🎯 Role Summary

We’re seeking a Staff Product Manager to lead our Data & Machine Learning ecosystem. This individual will own strategy and execution across three core teams: Data Architecture, Data Platform, and DataOps for ML/AI. This is a highly autonomous, senior-level role with a direct impact on the evolution of Pie’s data infrastructure and AI capabilities. You’ll be reporting to the Director of Product for Data and Post-Bind Journeys.

🚧 Key Responsibilities

1. Data Architecture

• Design and scale our enterprise data model and governance processes

• Implement durable data contracts between operational systems and pipelines

• Build a scalable data quality and consistency framework

2. Data Platform

• Lead development of resilient data pipelines (Snowflake, Airflow, Fivetran)

• Transition from legacy sources to modern, automated data ingestion

• Optimize for pipeline reliability, efficiency, and observability

3. DataOps for ML/AI

• Build ML data infrastructure using tools like AWS SageMaker

• Accelerate iteration on pricing models by linking underwriting, claims, and pricing data

• Evaluate internal vs external AI solutions for model development and deployment

📈 First-Year Success Metrics

• Define and implement a company-wide data strategy aligned to business impact

• Reduce pipeline failures by strengthening data contracts

• Minimize reliance on spreadsheets/manual data sources

• Implement robust metrics for data quality, model performance, and pipeline health

• Shorten pricing model optimization cycles via curated data pipelines

• Seamlessly integrate data teams into Pie’s Product Operating Model

• Champion data governance in collaboration with compliance and security

🧠 Requirements

• 10+ years of professional experience solving complex business/tech problems

• 7+ years of Product Management experience within Agile SDLC environments

• Advanced SQL proficiency with hands-on experience in data transformation

• Strong understanding of:

  • Data warehouse tech (Snowflake)

  • Workflow orchestration (Airflow)

  • Data extraction (Fivetran)

  • ML platforms (AWS SageMaker)

  • Data quality (Monte Carlo or similar)

• Expertise in data modeling, governance, and scalable data validation

• Ability to translate complex data problems into tangible business value

• Strategic thinker with tactical execution skills

• (Insurance industry experience is a plus, not a must)

💸 Compensation & Perks

• Base Salary: $170,000 – $210,000 (USD)

• Equity: Ownership stake in Pie
