🧩 The Role

We’re seeking a Staff Data Scientist with deep expertise in machine learning and causal inference to elevate our Shopping and Personalization experience. Your focus? Demystify how and why content is surfaced to Pinners — and drive innovation in our recommendation systems.

This is a high-impact, cross-functional role that demands strategic thinking, rigorous analytics, and clear communication.

🎯 Key Responsibilities

• Ensure recommendation systems generate reliable, high-quality outputs to enhance the Pinner shopping journey.
• Build robust analytical frameworks (online & offline) to interpret recommendation system behaviors.
• Apply scientific rigor and statistical methods to product development, iteration, and user behavior analysis.
• Collaborate with PMs, engineers, and researchers to integrate insights into new product experiences.
• Influence product roadmaps and metric evolution through data-driven insights.
• Mentor and support junior data scientists.

🔍 Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in data science, analytics, or ML in fast-paced, data-rich environments.
• Strong background in recommendation systems and causal inference techniques.
• Proficient in Python or R, SQL, and distributed data tools (e.g., Spark).
• Strong communication skills—able to bridge the technical and non-technical.
• Self-starter with a collaborative mindset and product-oriented thinking.

🌍 Work Model & Location

💰 Compensation & Benefits

• Base Salary Range (US applicants): $163,064 – $335,720 USD
