Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced Data Science leader to guide the development and optimization of data labeling, surveys, and GenAI tooling platforms at Pinterest. This role will focus on accelerating innovation by improving the speed, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness of labeling systems, with an emphasis on leveraging Generative AI to streamline tasks and improve operational efficiency. You’ll lead a high-performing team to achieve substantial improvements in data labeling, develop strategies, and prototype solutions that influence key business decisions.

Responsibilities:

Develop a strategic vision for labeling, surveys, and GenAI tooling, in partnership with product and engineering teams.
Build and lead a team of data scientists to execute on the vision, fostering a culture of innovation and high performance.
Apply scientific methods to design solutions that enhance velocity, accuracy, and cost-efficiency, while minimizing biases.
Translate business challenges into actionable plans, ensuring your team delivers high-quality, impactful technical outputs.
Communicate complex findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
Collaborate cross-functionally with product teams, engineers, and leadership to scale successful prototypes and integrate them into the platform.

Required Qualifications:

10+ years of combined post-graduate academic and industry experience applying scientific methods to large-scale data problems.
Proven experience managing data science teams and driving innovation across multiple product areas.
Hands-on experience in scientific data analysis, algorithm development, and data-driven decision-making.
Strong ability to translate ambiguous business challenges into clear, actionable insights and metrics.
Expertise in crafting high-quality algorithmic code and identifying opportunities for performance improvements.
Ability to foster collaboration and influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with labeling platforms, measurement, and developing effective prompts for large language models (LLMs).
A passion for Generative AI and its potential to enhance business operations and decision-making.

Additional Information:

This position offers a flexible work model with in-office collaboration required 3-5 times per quarter.
Base salary range: $163,064—$335,720 USD (final salary based on experience, location, and other factors).
