🔧 Team Overview: Identity & Access Management (IAM)

The IAM team owns and scales the critical systems that power user authentication, authorization, and identity at Reddit. These systems form the backbone of security and access across all products, users, and internal services.

💼 Role Summary

As a Software Engineer on the IAM team, you’ll design, build, and maintain high-performance, scalable backend systems that secure Reddit’s platform. You’ll work cross-functionally to implement Reddit’s IAM strategy, support millions of users, and evolve engineering capabilities around identity, authorization, and authentication.

🛠️ Key Responsibilities

• Architect & Build: Develop reliable backend services that support secure, scalable IAM capabilities.
• Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with product, security, and engineering stakeholders to define Reddit’s IAM roadmap.
• Execute Strategically: Drive high-leverage projects from planning through production.
• Scale Systems: Improve architecture to enhance performance, scalability, and maintainability of IAM systems.
• Grow Continuously: Learn and evolve both technically and professionally in a high-impact team.

✅ What You’ll Bring

• 3+ years of backend engineering experience with distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience with Identity & Access Management — authentication or authorization.
• Proficiency in general-purpose languages (ideally Go).
• Familiarity with cloud-native infrastructure: Kubernetes, CI/CD, AWS, GCP.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with a high level of empathy.

• Base Salary Range: $164,200 – $229,900 USD (dependent on experience, location, and qualifications)
