Position Summary

We’re seeking a Back-End Software Engineer to help build the infrastructure powering Grammarly’s AI-first products. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-scale systems, contribute directly to feature development, and collaborate across multiple cross-functional teams to shape the future of human–AI communication.

What You’ll Do

• Ship production-level code in your first week and launch impactful features within months.
• Design, build, and maintain scalable, high-availability services.
• Leverage cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and infrastructure as code (IaC) principles.
• Collaborate with internal teams—Core, Growth, Enterprise, Trust, and Data—to deliver high-impact product features.
• Prioritize end-user experience through robust testing, documentation, and service reliability.
• Evaluate existing systems and propose architectures for future growth.
• Contribute to mentorship, team development, and Grammarly’s engineering culture.

What You’ll Bring

• 3+ years of professional experience in back-end software engineering.
• Strong command of Java or other JVM-based languages.
• Deep knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and systems design.
• Proven track record deploying and debugging cloud-native applications (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Production experience building services at scale with high performance and uptime.
• Strong focus on code quality, user experience, and operational excellence.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base Salary Range (Zone 1): $180,000 – $264,000/year (USD)
