💼 The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Software Development Engineer III – Cloud Platform to join our Analytical Relational Data Warehouse team, part of the Data and AI organization. This team manages one of the largest relational data warehouses at Expedia, powering business insights across Booking, Loyalty, Finance, and Clickstream data.
You’ll be instrumental in designing scalable platform services that support cloud-native database technologies on AWS, enabling data transformation and analytics at scale.
🧠 Key Responsibilities
- Build, deploy, and maintain production-grade software in cloud environments.
- Design and develop scalable, secure, and high-performing systems on AWS.
- Collaborate in an Agile team of 6+ engineers, contributing to robust software development life cycles.
- Debug and troubleshoot applications, ensuring system reliability and availability.
- Implement infrastructure automation using Terraform, Ansible, and CI/CD practices.
- Develop and maintain data transformation workflows using ETL, Airflow, or Rundeck.
- Monitor performance using modern observability tools.
📌 What We’re Looking For
- 🎓 Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field—or equivalent hands-on experience.
- 💼 Minimum of 6 years of professional software development experience.
- 💻 Proficiency in Python and Java for data engineering and automation tasks.
- ☁️ Expertise in AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM, etc.) and cloud architecture design.
- 🛠 Solid Linux administration skills and shell scripting experience.
- 🧰 Strong grasp of Git, Docker/Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code.
- ✅ Solid understanding of ETL principles and large-scale data pipelines.
