Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Backend to set the technical direction for scaling our products and infrastructure. You’ll drive complex projects, provide mentorship to our engineering team, and directly contribute to Vanta’s growth. This role on the Personnel Workflows team focuses on helping our customers meet security and compliance goals by managing employees, devices, and account access at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership:
- Lead complex, cross-functional projects to support scaling of the business and engineering team.
- Conduct design reviews, balance trade-offs, and communicate technical constraints effectively.
- Product Development:
- Develop and launch greenfield products to support Vanta’s objectives.
- Focus on improving operational posture and ensuring execution quality across the engineering organization.
- Collaboration:
- Partner with stakeholders to align technical direction with business goals.
- Mentor team members and contribute to building a strong engineering culture.
Qualifications for Success
- Experience:
- At least 8 years of industry experience, including prior roles in product engineering.
- Proven experience with data models and enterprise product development.
- Previous technical leadership in teams or projects.
- Mindset & Skills:
- Strong product mindset with a focus on customer impact.
- Interest in learning about security or prior experience in the security space.
- Technical Environment:
- Experience with frameworks and tools like TypeScript, React, Node.js, MongoDB, and AWS services (e.g., Fargate, ECS).
