🧠 Role Overview
We’re seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join our team developing AI-powered capabilities within our DevAI product suite. This role is focused on the integration of Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering, and the end-to-end development of intelligent features. You’ll work cross-functionally with scientists, software engineers, and partner teams to shape the future of ML-driven collaboration tools.
💼 Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement end-to-end ML solutions for Atlassian’s DevAI products
- Integrate and optimize LLMs and prompt engineering pipelines
- Lead problem-solving for complex AI challenges across multiple systems
- Collaborate across teams (engineering, product, data science) to ensure scalable delivery
- Maintain technical documentation and contribute to design discussions
- Stay on the pulse of AI/ML innovation and implement emerging techniques
🧩 Core Qualifications
- Proven experience as an ML Engineer in production environments
- Strong hands-on skills in LLM integration and prompt engineering
- Demonstrated ability to deliver ML systems from experimentation to deployment
- Solid communication skills and the ability to explain complex AI concepts clearly
- Experience working in cross-functional and remote-first teams
💸 Compensation Structure (U.S. Based)
Atlassian applies a zone-based compensation model:
- Zone A: $199,400 – $265,800
- Zone B: $179,400 – $239,200
- Zone C: $165,500 – $220,600
💥 Includes base salary + eligibility for bonuses, equity, and performance incentives
