The Design System Team
Our Design System team enables our product, engineering, and design teams to create consistent, high-quality user experiences across our platforms. We focus on maintaining and improving our web component library, its documentation, and development environment. We ensure alignment and smooth workflows between design and front-end teams to drive innovation.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to join our Design System team. You will contribute to the development, maintenance, and delivery of our Design System, enhancing usability and scaling its impact across Back Market’s B2C and B2B platforms. This role will involve collaborating with frontend engineers, product designers, and other stakeholders to build and improve systems and automation tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and improve the design system for Back Market’s web, iOS, and Android platforms.
- Support frontend contributions by facilitating, reviewing code, and enhancing the developer experience.
- Maintain the frontend codebase and tooling, and develop a shared vision with the Front-End Chapter on technological decisions.
- Ensure smooth delivery of the web codebase and assist in automating migrations and executing planned updates.
- Develop automation tools for scalability (e.g., tokens delivery, assets, plugins, CI/CD).
- Continuously improve documentation and content for easy understanding and adoption of the Design System.
- Advocate for accessibility standards and ensure compliance with relevant best practices.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Design Systems, having owned or significantly contributed to one.
- Solid expertise in Vue.js, accessibility, web performance, SEO, SSR, DevOps (Circle CI), QA, code generation, and code analysis.
- Comfortable working with APIs, CI environments, and cloud platforms to integrate with code repositories.
- Passion for mentoring and coaching team members, while staying humble and open to learning.
- Strong communication skills, able to discuss technical concepts with non-technical audiences.
- Proactive in advocating your impact and communicating progress to internal and external stakeholders.
- Professional proficiency in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Design System challenges and experience improving usability and adoption.
- Experience working in an international team and ability to collaborate across different time zones and cultures.
