🚀 About the Role

Grafana Labs is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead one or two frontend squads working on core Grafana features and user experience. You’ll champion engineering best practices, drive continuous improvement, and collaborate closely across Product and Design to ship scalable solutions.

This is a high-impact leadership role with influence across product direction, team performance, and technical execution.

💼 Key Responsibilities

• Manage, coach, and mentor frontend engineers through 1:1s, feedback, and career development
• Lead project execution, unblock teams, and ensure timely delivery of features
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product & Design to align on roadmap and feature specs
• Review and contribute to technical designs and architecture decisions
• Maintain team productivity, morale, and alignment with Grafana’s engineering values
• Participate in hiring efforts to grow and retain top technical talent
• Join the on-call rotation for Grafana Frontend services

🧠 What You Bring

• Strong technical background (preferably React/TypeScript)
• Prior experience as a hands-on engineer; degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• 3+ years managing frontend engineering teams with a focus on autonomy and performance
• Solid grasp of modern frontend frameworks and cloud-first delivery practices
• Comfortable managing technical projects and people simultaneously
• Exceptional communicator and relationship builder, with a balance of empathy and candor
• Bonus: experience with user-centric product development, customer interactions, and open-source tools
