Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Bitbucket Pipelines team. Bitbucket Pipelines is a key part of the Bitbucket Cloud offering, empowering software engineering teams to deliver software with agility and confidence. In the coming year, we aim to elevate Pipelines in terms of scalability and performance, enabling CI/CD at scale. As a Senior Engineering Manager, you’ll be responsible for leading and mentoring your team, guiding them to deliver high-quality features and technical innovations, while fostering an environment of continuous professional development.

Key Responsibilities

• Leadership & Mentorship: Manage and mentor a team of engineers, helping them grow in their careers and reach their potential.
• Feature Delivery: Lead the development of customer-facing features, collaborating closely with Product Management (PM) and Design teams to deliver impactful software.
• Strategic Communication: Effectively communicate strategy, plans, and progress at all levels within the organization.
• Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with internal teams and stakeholders to align objectives and drive results.
• Technical Excellence: Lead technical initiatives, pushing for innovation and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, scalable systems.
• Team Development: Foster a culture of growth, focusing on employee performance and guiding them through their professional journey.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience in shipping customer-facing features with a focus on software quality and user impact.
• Strong experience leading engineering initiatives and collaborating with PM and Design to deliver outstanding software.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate strategy and status across different levels of the organization.
• Experience in managing large-scale distributed systems, with a focus on technical innovation and quality.
• Proven track record in coaching, mentoring, and developing engineering talent.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in employee performance management and growth.
• Knowledge of the SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS industries, with hands-on experience with public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GAE, Azure).
• Familiarity with microservices, cloud-native architectures, and continuous delivery practices (e.g., progressive deployments, feature toggles, experimentation).
