About the Role

At Atlassian, we are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our Product Data Engineering (DE) Team, reporting directly to a Senior Data Engineering Manager. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in building robust, scalable data solutions that inform key business decisions. This position is fully remote, but candidates must reside within the Pacific Time Zone.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to drive company-wide data initiatives.
Mentor and guide junior engineers to elevate team performance.
Work with leadership, engineers, and data scientists to align on data requirements and solutions.
Design and implement scalable, efficient data solutions to manage both large and small datasets.
Build and launch reliable data pipelines for data transformation and movement.
Architect intelligent data models optimized for storage and retrieval.
Implement data quality checks to ensure data integrity.
Own the entire data engineering lifecycle, from design to implementation.
Support on-call responsibilities to maintain the data platform.
Work closely with software engineers to ensure easy data access across systems.

Qualifications

Required:

Proven experience as a data engineer, with expertise in building and optimizing data pipelines.
Solid knowledge of data modeling, ETL processes, and cloud-based data technologies.
Proficiency in SQL and programming languages such as Python or Java.
Strong communication skills to translate business needs into technical solutions.
Ability to work autonomously in a fully remote environment.

Preferred:

Familiarity with distributed data systems (e.g., Spark, Kafka).
Experience working in product analytics or enterprise-scale data environments.

Compensation

Atlassian is committed to offering competitive compensation based on expertise and location:

Zone	Base Salary Range (USD)
Zone A	$163,400 – $217,800
Zone B	$147,000 – $196,000
Zone C	$135,600 – $180,800
