๐ About the Role
STRโs Cyber Division is seeking a Senior Cyber RF Hardware Engineer to spearhead advanced development of RF, analog/mixed signal, and digital systems supporting cutting-edge national defense initiatives. You will play a critical role in designing and characterizing complex hardware platforms used for reverse engineering, RF hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) systems, and digital twin architectures.
This role is ideal for a technically adept engineer passionate about innovating across the RF hardware stack and collaborating within a multidisciplinary environment on mission-critical solutions.
๐ ๏ธ Key Responsibilities
- Design and prototype custom RF hardware solutions using a combination of COTS and custom-built systems.
- Develop PCB-based hardware, embedded software, and FPGA logic for HWIL and surrogate builds.
- Integrate microcontroller debuggers and circuit probing tools for reverse engineering tasks.
- Utilize test lab equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, VNAs) to troubleshoot and validate designs.
- Lead design efforts, contribute to technical proposals, and provide cost/schedule estimates.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to represent the hardware domain in broader system architecture discussions.
- Guide the development of lab-based control and acquisition platforms for RF testing.
โ What You Bring
- U.S. Citizenship required; eligible for Top Secret (TS) security clearance.
- Bachelorโs degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline (Masterโs preferred).
- 7+ years (or 5+ with a Masterโs) of hands-on experience in RF, analog, or digital circuit design.
- Proven ability to lead hardware efforts from concept through delivery with cost and schedule ownership.
- Strong communication and mentoring skills for junior staff.
๐ Preferred Qualifications
- Active Top Secret Clearance.
- Hands-on experience in RF system design, modeling, and simulation (e.g., SPICE, Simulink, Microwave Office).
- Background in satellite or airborne communications or remote sensing systems.
- Proficiency in integrating and operating Software Defined Radios (SDRs) and RFSoC platforms.
- Familiarity with processor architectures, in-circuit debuggers, Linux-based test software.
- Experience with CAD tools (Altium, Cadence, Eagle) and FPGA development (Vivado, Quartus, HDL Coder).
