🚀 Role Summary
We’re seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to help scale our platform and contribute directly to the growth of our Canadian engineering hub. This role will be pivotal in driving the development of robust, scalable backend systems and mentoring the next generation of engineers. You’ll be working with world-class talent to build the infrastructure behind our AI-driven product suite.
🔧 Key Responsibilities
- Architect and implement scalable backend systems to support our AI-powered platform
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal engineering, ML, and product teams
- Design and maintain performant APIs and infrastructure to support product innovation
- Integrate large-scale machine learning models into core systems
- Lead complex engineering projects from design through deployment
- Contribute to team culture, mentorship, and the development of best practices in our Toronto office
- Uphold high standards of performance, security, and scalability in all deliverables
✅ Qualifications
Required:
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience, preferably in high-growth startups
- Proficiency in Python, Go, Java, or C++ with strong software design skills
- Deep understanding of distributed systems, performance optimization, and API design
- Experience with modern CI/CD, testing, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform)
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with shifting priorities
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills across technical and non-technical teams
Preferred (Bonus Points):
- Prior experience in legal tech or working with generative AI systems
- Exposure to large-scale ML integration and data science pipelines
- Demonstrated leadership or mentorship experience in growing engineering teams
- Previous experience scaling systems in a Series A/B startup environment
