Role Overview

Pinterest is seeking a Privacy & Security Engineer to develop scalable solutions that ensure compliance with privacy regulations and protect sensitive user data. In this role, you will work closely with engineering, compliance, and security teams to identify vulnerabilities, implement best practices, and enhance data security across our platform.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design & implement privacy-compliant solutions, ensuring secure data handling and deletion processes.
• Write, review, and maintain well-documented, secure code that meets privacy standards.
• Monitor and identify vulnerabilities, conduct root cause analysis, and strengthen security measures.
• Partner with compliance, engineering, and cross-functional teams to align on security goals and industry best practices.
• Drive efforts to prevent and resolve privacy-related incidents, ensuring effective remediation strategies.
• Conduct privacy training sessions, mentor team members, and foster a security-focused culture.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with increasing responsibility.
• 1+ years of hands-on experience in privacy & security engineering or tackling privacy-related challenges.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or similar languages, with a focus on secure, maintainable code.
• Experience with privacy frameworks and integrating privacy into system architecture.
• Strong knowledge of secure data handling, logging, and incident response processes.
• Ability to analyze technical challenges, adapt to ambiguity, and implement data protection strategies.
• Collaborative mindset with leadership skills to mentor team members and foster cross-functional relationships.
• Passion for privacy and security, with a commitment to delivering user-centric solutions.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (bootcamp and self-taught candidates are also welcome).
