💼 Role Overview

We are seeking a Principal Data Scientist to join our team and drive key initiatives in Workforce Management Analytics. In this role, you will work on high-impact projects, collaborating closely with business partners to turn data into actionable insights and visually compelling analytics that inform business strategy. You will play a central role in shaping foundational contributions to analytics, strategy, and operations at Atlassian.


🎯 Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of data scientists to advance core data artifacts (e.g., Tableau, Redash), improving both functionality and visual impact.
  • Collaborate with business and operations leaders to deliver data-driven insights that influence key business decisions.
  • Drive efficiency improvements in a rapidly scaling customer support environment by applying analytic capabilities to business challenges.
  • Use data visualization, statistics, and operational metrics to support business strategy and execution.
  • Propose rapid experiments or A/B tests to assess new strategies or initiatives, iterating quickly for maximum impact.
  • Serve as the analytic visualization expert for cross-functional teams, focusing on measurement, opportunity sizing, and understanding complex systems to generate actionable business insights.

🎯 Required Skills & Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience working with data, with a BS in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, or another quantitative field.
  • Proven expertise in data visualization, statistical analysis, and developing operational metrics.
  • Extensive experience using SQL, Tableau, R/Python, and Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to influence operational teams with data-driven insights.
  • Demonstrated success in driving analytic initiatives, engaging non-technical stakeholders, and delivering impactful solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills—able to articulate complex data findings in a clear and actionable manner to non-technical partners.
  • Ability to tackle ambiguous problems, propose solutions, and iterate quickly to deliver measurable value.
  • Enthusiasm for mentoring and growing less experienced analysts.

🎁 Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base pay within the following ranges based on location:
    • Zone A: $175,100 – $233,400
    • Zone B: $157,500 – $210,100
    • Zone C: $145,300 – $193,700
  • Eligibility for bonus, commissions, and equity.
