Position Overview

We are seeking a Principal Data Scientist (GTM) to join our Analytics & Data Science team. In this role, you will leverage data to drive insights about Atlassian’s products and customers. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams across marketing, product management, engineering, and executive teams, using data to influence product development and business strategies. The role focuses on applying quantitative analysis and experimentation to solve key business problems, define opportunities, and measure product impact.


Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams to develop business strategies based on data insights and analysis.
  • Data Analysis & Strategy: Apply advanced data science techniques, including A/B testing, regression analysis, and clustering, to solve business challenges.
  • Opportunity Identification: Use data to identify opportunities for product improvements, influencing product roadmaps with actionable insights.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track and measure product success by analyzing key product metrics, forecasting, and identifying trends.
  • Communication: Present data-driven insights to company leadership and stakeholders, using storytelling techniques to influence strategic decisions.
  • Impact Assessment: Measure the impact of product efforts and drive continuous improvements based on data insights.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • 8+ years of experience in data science or related fields.
    • Strong proficiency in SQL and at least one data manipulation language (e.g., Python, R).
    • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, R-Shiny, Microstrategy).
    • Expertise in statistical analysis (e.g., regression, A/B testing, clustering, probability).
    • Proven track record of driving business strategy and performance improvements through data-driven insights.
    • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • 10+ years of experience in data science or a related field.
    • Understanding of the SaaS business model and key performance metrics.
    • Experience working with Chat, Search, or LLM-based products.

Compensation

Atlassian provides competitive compensation packages, which may include base salary, bonuses, commissions, and equity. The base salary ranges depending on location:

  • Zone A: $201,300 – $268,400
  • Zone B: $181,200 – $241,600
  • Zone C: $167,100 – $222,800
