About the Role

Datadog is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Governance Console initiative. The role focuses on building scalable systems that allow customers to manage their observability usage, cost, and best practices across multiple teams and products. You’ll be responsible for leading a team to develop a platform that delivers actionable insights and controls for enterprise customers, enabling proactive governance of their observability systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design & Drive: Lead the design of a flexible governance system that empowers customers to define policies, detect misconfigurations, and take actions to improve their observability management.
• Collaboration: Partner with Product Managers, Designers, and other engineering teams to define the roadmap and ensure successful delivery.
• Complex Problem Solving: Tackle engineering challenges that span multiple teams and impact the customer experience.
• Customer Focus: Work closely with enterprise customers to understand their governance needs and translate pain points into innovative solutions.

Who You Are

• Experienced Manager: You have a background in leading backend or full-stack engineering teams and have built or scaled distributed systems.
• Problem Solver: You enjoy solving complex, impactful problems for customers.
• Team Leader: You have a proven track record of mentoring and growing engineers at different career stages.
• Strategic Thinker: Comfortable with ambiguity, you can build roadmaps and align cross-functional teams.
• Academic Background: You have a BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Salary & Compensation

• Salary Range: $187,000 – $240,000 USD annually, plus equity and benefits.
  Actual compensation varies based on skills, experience, and qualifications.
