Role Overview:
As a Machine Learning Engineer on the Content Understanding team, you will be instrumental in defining and building machine learning (ML) systems at scale, supporting various use cases in media and catalog understanding. These systems will drive innovation in features like audio fingerprinting, video/image tagging, and music categorization, directly impacting Spotify’s music catalog and user experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- ML Systems Development: Build production systems that enhance the listener’s experience on the Spotify platform.
- Prototyping & Scaling: Prototype new ML approaches and scale them for Spotify’s hundreds of millions of active users.
- Collaboration: Work with a cross-functional team, including design, data science, product management, and engineering, to create new technologies and features.
- Data Analysis: Conduct data analysis to establish baselines and inform product decisions.
- Optimization & Tooling: Focus on optimizing and refining systems, testing, and improving quality.
Who You Are:
- Experience: You have professional experience in applied machine learning, with hands-on experience in building and prototyping ML systems at scale.
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in Python, Scala, Java, SQL, or C++ (Python experience is required). Familiarity with cloud platforms like GCP or AWS is a plus.
- Data Pipelines: Skilled in architecting data pipelines using tools like Apache Beam and Spark.
- ML Tools: Experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, and/or Google Cloud Platform is highly desirable.
- Collaboration: Passionate about fostering collaborative teams and data-driven development in an agile environment.
Additional Information:
- Location: This role is based in New York City with flexibility to work remotely for most of the time, with occasional in-person meetings.
- Compensation: The U.S. base salary range for this position is $112,664 – $195,540 annually, plus equity. Benefits include health insurance, six months paid parental leave, 401(k), meal allowance, paid time off, and more.
