Data Engineer – Experience Mission

About the Role
Spotify is seeking an enthusiastic and engaged Data Engineer to join our Experience Mission team. The Experience Mission is dedicated to enhancing Spotify’s consumer experience across various platforms, including mobile apps, web, TVs, speakers, wearables, and more. This role will focus on building high-quality data solutions to support Spotify’s mission of bringing music and audio to users across all devices and platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Engineering & Processing:
- Build large-scale batch and streaming data processing systems using tools like Scala and cloud platforms.
- Collaborate with software engineers, data scientists, and business leaders to create data-powered products.
- Improve data pipelines by enhancing data quality through testing, tooling, and performance evaluations.
- Perform root cause analysis on data and processes to answer business questions and identify improvement opportunities.
- Continuously enhance codebases using innovative data processing frameworks and technologies.
- Collaboration & Product Development:
- Work in multi-functional teams with end-to-end responsibility for product development within the mission.
Who You Are
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Python, Java, Scala, and SQL, with experience in cloud-based solutions.
- Experience working with high-volume, heterogeneous data and data processing frameworks such as Apache Beam, Apache Spark, or Apache Flink.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to visualize data findings clearly.
- Familiar with agile software processes and a strong advocate for engineering best practices like continuous integration and delivery.
- Proven knowledge of data modeling, data access, and data storage optimization techniques.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- A team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Familiarity with backend development is a plus.
Where You’ll Be
This role is based in Stockholm or London, with the flexibility to work remotely. In-person meetings will occur occasionally, but there is flexibility to work from home.
