As we advance our cutting-edge self-driving technology, we’re looking for an Autonomy Systems Test Engineer to ensure our vehicles operate safely and reliably in real-world environments.

Role Overview

As an Autonomy Systems Test Engineer, you will play a crucial role in accelerating product development by designing and implementing rigorous testing frameworks for our self-driving technology. You will oversee the validation of AI-driven behavior, execute simulated test scenarios, and analyze performance to identify and resolve software issues. Your efforts will directly contribute to enhancing system reliability and safety for Zoox’s autonomous vehicle platform.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop test strategies and plans for autonomous driving behavior features.
• Identify, track, and resolve test implementation challenges with cross-functional development teams.
• Design, develop, and execute synthetic and log-based test scenarios on an in-house simulation framework.
• Propose, prototype, and validate new AI testing methodologies using automated metrics.
• Lead triage efforts to diagnose software failures and analyze results across validation platforms.
• Conduct in-vehicle testing missions, evaluating real-world performance and ensuring system stability.

Qualifications:

✅ Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
✅ 5+ years of experience designing and implementing scalable software testing strategies.
✅ Strong expertise in automated test frameworks and test automation.
✅ Proficiency in JIRA, GIT, Linux command line, Python, or other scripting languages.
✅ Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
✅ Strong organizational, leadership, and communication abilities.

Bonus Qualifications:

➕ PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a STEM-related field.
➕ Industry experience in robotics, autonomous mobility, or safety-critical systems testing.
➕ Familiarity with ISO 26262 or other industry safety standards.

Compensation & Benefits:

💰 Salary Range: $150,000 – $215,000 (varies by experience and location)
