About the Role

At Atlassian, we are looking for a Principal Data Scientist to join our world-class Data Science team. This role is ideal for an experienced data professional who can leverage data to drive strategic insights that influence our product development and business decisions. This is a fully remote role with candidates eligible from Australia and New Zealand, and requires sufficient timezone overlap with the team.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Managers, Engineers, and Marketing teams, to solve business and product challenges.
Apply technical expertise in quantitative analysis, experimentation, and data presentation to develop data-driven strategies.
Develop and test hypotheses using various analytical techniques, methodologies, and technical approaches.
Define and assess opportunities to enhance products and business processes, influencing roadmaps through data insights and recommendations.
Partner with teams across the company to guide and execute on strategic decisions.
Measure product success and monitor key metrics to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
Communicate insights through storytelling techniques to influence and inform leadership and broader teams.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

8+ years of experience in Data Science or related fields.
Proficiency in SQL and another programming language for data manipulation (e.g., Python, R).
Strong expertise in data storytelling and experience with visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, R-Shiny).
Deep understanding of statistical concepts like regressions, A/B testing, clustering, and probability.
Proven ability to drive impactful projects that influence business strategy and performance.
Strong written communication skills for crafting analysis into clear and actionable content.
Experience advising and presenting to senior executives.

Additional Requirements:

10+ years of experience in Data Science or related fields.
Familiarity with the SaaS business model and key performance metrics.
