The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Principal Machine Learning Engineer to take full ownership of SmithRx’s AI/ML strategy and lead the delivery of scalable, high-impact ML solutions. Reporting into our Data & Engineering leadership, this role will drive innovation in data architecture and predictive modeling across the organization — from anomaly detection to cost prediction and patient outcomes optimization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of ML initiatives — from problem scoping and data wrangling to deployment and monitoring.
  • Architect and deploy production-grade ML models for anomaly detection and prediction using large-scale healthcare datasets.
  • Build and maintain robust, scalable ML pipelines integrated into Snowflake and other modern cloud environments.
  • Champion data quality, governance, and HIPAA-compliance in all AI/ML operations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Data teams to embed ML capabilities in customer-facing solutions.
  • Lead and mentor ML engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, peer learning, and technical excellence.

What You’ll Bring

✅ 12+ years of combined experience in data engineering, data science, or ML roles
✅ Proven track record of deploying ML solutions in high-stakes environments (healthcare a plus)
✅ Advanced proficiency in Python, SQL, and ML libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, scikit-learn, PyTorch)
✅ Experience with cloud-based warehouses (e.g., Snowflake, PostgresDB, DynamoDB), orchestration tools like Airflow, Spark, DBT, and infrastructure tools like Terraform
✅ Deep knowledge of data architecture: OLAP, OLTP, NoSQL, and real-time streaming pipelines
✅ Strong stakeholder influence and communication skills — you’ll interface with technical and non-technical leaders alike
✅ Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline (BS required; MS/PhD preferred)
