EvenUp, one of the fastest-growing generative AI startups in history, is seeking a Staff Frontend Engineer to join our Growth Engineering team in Toronto. In this pivotal role, you’ll lead the development of high-performance, scalable, and visually stunning user interfaces for our AI-powered platform, helping us revolutionize the legal tech industry and ensure fairer outcomes for personal injury victims.

This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days/week in-office collaboration at our Toronto office.

💼 Responsibilities

• Architect and build elegant, performant, and accessible frontend experiences
• Partner cross-functionally with product, design, and backend teams to develop new features
• Own the frontend tech stack for major product areas and drive scalability initiatives
• Build and maintain reusable components and design system libraries
• Ensure cross-browser/device performance, SEO optimization, and A11y compliance
• Champion code quality and mentor fellow engineers through code reviews and best practices
• Deliver large-scale engineering initiatives from conception to production in a startup-paced environment

✅ Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in frontend development
• Proficiency with React (or similar frameworks like Vue/Svelte), TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and modern tooling (e.g., Vite, Webpack)
• Deep expertise in state management libraries (e.g., Redux, Zustand, Jotai)
• Hands-on experience with design systems, component libraries, and tools like Figma
• Solid grasp of performance tuning, responsive design, and accessibility standards
• Competence in testing frameworks such as Jest, React Testing Library, or Cypress
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines
• Excellent collaboration, communication, and leadership skills

• Experience with AI, ML, or data-intensive applications
• Background in integrating backend APIs (GraphQL/REST)
• Knowledge of SSR frameworks like Next.js or edge/server components
