Role Overview

As a Lead Data Scientist, you will be responsible for driving Cin7’s data science and machine learning (ML) roadmap, leading initiatives that focus on product innovation, operational efficiency, and business impact. You will work on key projects like demand forecasting, stock optimization, anomaly detection, and predictive analytics to help thousands of businesses make smarter and faster inventory and order decisions. This is a strategic and hands-on role, ideal for someone passionate about building AI-driven products in a fast-paced SaaS environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead ML Development: Design, develop, and deploy advanced machine learning models in areas such as forecasting, replenishment, and fraud detection.
• Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with product, engineering, and analytics teams to define and implement data-driven features and insights within Cin7’s platform.
• Build ML Pipelines: Develop and maintain end-to-end ML pipelines in production environments, from data ingestion to monitoring and retraining.
• Translate Business Problems: Break down complex business problems into structured, machine-learnable challenges.
• Foster Experimentation: Promote a culture of experimentation and evidence-based decision-making.
• Mentorship: Lead and mentor a growing team of data scientists and ML engineers.
• Stay Ahead in AI/ML: Keep up with the latest developments in applied AI/ML, particularly in supply chain, time series forecasting, and decision intelligence.

Qualifications

• Experience: 4+ years of experience in data science or machine learning, with at least 2 years in a leadership or principal role.
• Proven Track Record: Experience delivering production-grade ML systems in a SaaS or product-driven company.
• Technical Skills: Deep understanding of ML techniques (supervised, unsupervised, time-series, probabilistic models, deep learning, etc.), proficiency in Python, and experience with frameworks like scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.
• Cloud & ML Ops: Familiarity with the Azure cloud platform and data/ML ops tools (e.g., Airflow, MLflow, Docker, Kubernetes).
• Data Handling: Experience with large structured datasets, ideally in logistics, inventory, retail, or manufacturing domains.
• Communication: Strong communication skills and the ability to influence cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience in supply chain optimization, inventory control systems, or ERP integrations.
• PhD or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
• Familiarity with pricing algorithms, recommendation systems, or operations research methods.
• Knowledge of the Azure platform.
