To support this vision, we are looking for a Manufacturing Software Engineer to play a pivotal role in developing and implementing manufacturing and calibration tests for electromechanical hardware and software in support of new product development.


Role Overview

As a Manufacturing Software Engineer, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining software tools that support the calibration and testing of electromechanical systems across our product lines. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth product transitions from design to mass manufacturing. Your work will directly contribute to the successful development and scaling of our 3D printers and related products worldwide.


Key Responsibilities

  • Software Tool Development: Design and maintain software tools for calibration and testing of electromechanical systems across Formlabs’ product lines.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Manage requirements and set expectations with cross-functional teams to ensure project success and timely delivery.
  • Hardware Modifications: Perform hardware modifications to printers and test setups to facilitate experimental processes.
  • Test Tool Ownership: Own the test tools ecosystem, from design and validation to documentation and release.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Utilize data science to analyze production lines and provide valuable insights to the operations team.
  • Process Improvement: Continuously enhance development and deployment processes to streamline software releases across global factories.

Qualifications

  • Passion for Quality Software: Strong commitment to consistently releasing high-quality software.
  • Collaborative Leadership: Comfortable leading collaborative projects with interdisciplinary engineering teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Knowledge: Strong understanding of software integration with embedded systems, electrical, and mechanical engineering.
  • Command-Line Expertise: Proficiency in using command-line tools and SSH for Linux system development.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python, SQL, and Linux.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience in manufacturing, robotics, or electromechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with working alongside manufacturing teams on complex products and collaborating with 3rd party contract manufacturers.
  • Full-stack web development experience, including Javascript/HTML, DevOps, Docker, and microservices.
  • Experience with C or C++ on microcontrollers.
  • Project management experience, especially with interdisciplinary engineering teams to ensure alignment on quality standards.
