The Role: Engineering Lead – Partner Cash Management

We’re looking for an Engineering Lead to spearhead the Partner Cash Management team, the force behind Wise’s advanced financial solutions for our partners. This team is responsible for funding, holding, and managing funds efficiently, enabling our partners to optimize liquidity, handle FX risk, and streamline interbank payments.

As an Engineering Lead, you’ll be working at the intersection of technology, product innovation, and global partnerships, collaborating with teams across Solutions Engineering, Business Development, and Implementation Success. You’ll build scalable systems that support Wise’s payment network alongside global banking and enterprise partners.

This is a hands-on leadership role—leading a team while contributing technically and driving architectural decisions. 🚀

What You’ll Be Doing

✔️ Lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering their growth and ensuring impactful delivery.
✔️ Drive technical architecture, making decisions that ensure global scalability.
✔️ Collaborate cross-functionally to support bank integrations and expand our payment network.
✔️ Ensure engineering excellence through best coding practices, code reviews, and mentorship.
✔️ Be hands-on—deeply understand and contribute to the team’s systems as needed.
✔️ Shape Wise’s engineering culture, sharing best practices across squads.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

🔹 Proven experience leading and mentoring high-performing engineering teams.
🔹 Strong Java (8+) and Spring Framework expertise.
🔹 In-depth knowledge of microservices and event-driven architectures.
🔹 A product mindset—thinking beyond implementation to customer impact.
🔹 Experience designing and optimizing relational databases.
🔹 Strong advocate for best coding practices, continuous delivery, and code reviews.
🔹 Excellent communication skills, able to convey technical concepts clearly.

💡 Bonus Skills (Not Required but Nice to Have!):
✨ Experience automating operational processes using LLMs.
✨ Knowledge of Sanctions & Name Screening Optimisation.
✨ Familiarity with highly regulated financial environments.
